Initial Meetings
The first meeting is a chance for you to be able to get advice on important, and sometimes, urgent matters. We ask you in advance of the meeting to complete some on-line information so that we can make the best use of the meeting. This also prompts you to consider various matters and prepare for the first meeting. It’s an opportunity for you to get to know us, and how we can help you. Some clients just want an initial discussion and nothing more; that’s fine. Others need more help and assistance and we can discuss how that will work and an estimate of costs. We will also discuss what’s the right way of dealing with matters for you given your circumstances and your goals.
Negotiations
We can help you reach an agreement with your former partner in respect of financial matters, children or other family law issues important to you. This can be done in correspondence, telephone calls, meetings with you and round the table meetings with your former partner and their legal adviser. We will support you and help you reach an agreement without formal legal proceedings. You will remain in control of the outcome rather than a court making decisions. Many couples want to reach an agreement and avoid the acrimony and cost of Court proceedings. We are all members of Resolution with a Code of Practice to deal with family law matters in a conciliatory and amicable way if possible. We aim to achieve practical and cost effective solutions
Court Proceedings
If Court proceedings are necessary we will represent you in these with our aim to reach an agreement if possible. Even if Court proceedings are issues by either yourself or your former partner in the majority of cases a settlement is reached rather than be imposed on your by the Court. We are skilled in giving you strategic, focused and cost effective advice and representation to give you the best opportunity of reaching an agreement within the Court arena. We will represent you robustly, looking after your interests, but an eye always on being cost effective.
