Something we have been asked a lot over the years has been whether one family lawyer giving legal advice to each of you is possible. Many couples want to work together to resolve matter on separation in an amicable and transparent way without conflict.
We can offer a new service Resolution Together whereby we can assist you both to reach decisions, with our expertise and advice, together. Our aim is to advise and help you reach decisions together that will work for both of you and, if you are parents, for any children, This can involve:
- · Decisions about how you can parent together after you separate including how much time the children will spend with each of you, your extended family, and a plan for future special events such as birthdays and Christmas; and/or
- · Decisions together about how you deal with financial matters such as the future of the family home, other property, savings and investments, businesses and pensions, spousal and child maintenance
Once an agreement is reached, we can prepare documents to formally record the decisions made. This can be a Parenting Plan, a Separation Agreement, a Consent Order within divorce proceedings, or a Pre-Nuptial Agreement.
Initially, we will have a discussion with each of you individually to decide how best we can help you and whether Resolution Together is suitable for you. We will then have a joint meeting when we will share information and discuss the issues between you in a constructive and focussed way. We will ensure you both have the forum, time, and space to think about the issues to achieve a workable and fair solution for you both, tailored and bespoke to meet the needs of you and your family.
